Calm play

PaperGames is built for calm, quiet play. This is what that means:

• No animations: nothing blinks, slides or jumps. Every change appears in one step.
• No sounds.
• No ads and no notifications. You need no account - only online chess runs through a Lichess account.
• No tracking and no cookies. Saved games and statistics stay in the browser on your device.
• Made for e-ink readers: dark text on a light background, and differences are never shown by grey or colour alone.
• No time pressure. The exceptions: Categories with an optional round timer (off by default), the running clock in Minesweeper, and the thinking time in online chess on Lichess.
• After the first visit everything works without internet in browsers that support it, except online chess.
• For children too: there is nothing to buy and nothing to share in the games. The About page has a voluntary donation link to PayPal.
