Tested devices
PaperGames runs in the web browser of an e-reader. Which readers it really works on is only known where someone has tried it and reported back. This page lists those devices, and it says just as clearly what has not been tested.
Devices with a report
| Device | Screen | What was checked | Date |
|---|
Every other device is untested. PaperGames may well work on it, but nobody has reported back yet.
PaperGames needs a current browser that supports ES2015 JavaScript (const, arrow functions, promises), fetch, Flexbox and CSS variables, plus service workers for offline play. As far as is known, the older Kindle browser and the Kobo browser based on Qt WebKit 538 cannot do this; there PaperGames only shows a short note.
Check it on your own device
- 1. Open the page
- Open PaperGames in your reader's own browser. Look out for: the page loads, the text is sharp and nothing is cut off at the side.
- 2. Start a game
- Start a game, for example Sudoku or Chess, and make a few moves. Look out for: every tap lands on the square you meant, and the board fits on the screen without scrolling sideways.
- 3. Open the settings
- Open Settings and switch the text size and high contrast. Look out for: the page changes at once and everything stays readable.
- 4. Go offline
- Wait until the home page says that PaperGames is ready offline, then switch off Wi-Fi and reload the page. Look out for: the page and a game still open.
- 5. Come back later
- Leave a game in the middle, close the browser and open it again later. Look out for: the game is exactly where you left it.
